I'm very pleased to announce that two of my paintings are included in the Summer Collection, on exhibit at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe from May 1 through the end of November. The announcement by Slate Art for a private reception included my art; I'm so pleased about all of this! The two paintings of mine in the exhibit are 'River Rain', top right in the image above, and 'Canyon', bottom left. The other painting at the right, 'Canyon, version II' is on reserve for this exhibit.
The art is on view primarily for guests of the Ritz Carlton. All work is for sale, with labels and a self-guided tour, with price sheet available at the concierge desk. I'll be going up soon in the month of June to see the artwork installed and to take my own photos of the exhibit.
A view of all the contemporary art : Summer Collection. The page in the link shows images, descriptions and prices for the contemporary art. These were described as works which were selected to compliment the interior of the Ritz-Carlton, and mountain resort lifestyle. Subjects include landscape and nature-inspired abstract artwork .
When I was painting 'River Rain', and the 'Canyon' paintings, I didn't use photographic references. I began painting abstracts which then transformed into landscapes - something that happens, and happens often to me! What helped tremendously is the winter rains began to fall in Northern California during the time I painted, and I had the studio windows thrown open to hear the rain falling. It was my background music. It was really a great accompaniment for me while in the creation of these.
The Ritz-Carlton Tahoe artwork is on exhibit until November 2017. Most paintings are near the Living Room and Spa, on the first and second floor corridors. The exhibit is primarily for guests of the Ritz; there is a restaurant and lounge areas within the stunning interior. Parking is by valet only with a fee for parking.
