We had a wonderful time recently in Palm Springs; it's my hometown. Yes, I'm a graduate of Palm Springs High (not saying what year!) My husband and I both traveled & brought painting gear, materials and paints. We saw the incredibly wonderful & historic 'Women of Abstract Expressionism' at the Palm Springs Art Museum while there, along with other events on our agenda - it is peak season. Parties going on in our neighborhood all weekend, festive & fun times all around. The hotel in the historic district of Palm Springs where we've stayed often (the newly renamed Hotel Rossi) was holding a garden party in early March; I'd been invited a few months ago to paint live during the event. It was a blast ! And I received mention on the postcard.
The experience from my years of painting outdoors , en plein air was pretty valuable to have in my back pocket. I love acrylics for their speed. With a dry desert climate you need to put in even more speed in the painting! An event like this, garden party, wine, great jazz music along with it, fun guests to chat with, this is the kind of outdoor painting I'd do again.
I've uploaded the two paintings in the Abstracted Florals Gallery. Acrylic paintings on paper are very fresh, full of life and floral colors in mninimal frames, or float-framed. Beautiful reminders of a garden.
